When I was growing up there always seemed to be a pot of gravy cooking on the stove in my house. Gravy, of course, is New Jersey Italian for tomato sauce, and my grandmother’s was the best. I make it to her recipe to this day. But sometimes life doesn’t always give me enough time to make the classic, long-simmered sauce, like my grandmother used to. What’s a guy to do? I’ll let you in on a secret: I use tomato sauce from a jar.
You have to believe that if I am using sauce from a jar, it’s going to be the absolute, no-holds-barred, best sauce ever. And that, my friends, is Hoboken Farms “Big Red” Tomato Sauce (you gotta love the name, right?). We know tomatoes in New Jersey and Hoboken Farms knows what to do with them. They cook them long and slow and get a sauce that is thick, rich and full of flavor. Nothing is better than that.
Simmer it with some meatballs, toss it over some pasta and you have an instant Sunday feast.
